Test for Surface Free Iron in a fast, easy, reliable method using the Passi-Color 1626 kit.
Free iron or unalloyed iron remaining on the surface of stainless steel after machining, milling, drilling etc; can lead to corrosion. Surface free iron is detected by a simple 2 minute color spot test. Whole surfaces can be spot tested. This test is also recommended for testing the inside bore of small tubes such as hypodermic needles and HPLC tubes. The Passivation Test Kit 1626 is faster and much more convenient than any chemical test in the ASTM spec A 967-96.
